This is from our trip to Alabama last month, again. I went for a little walk around the neighbourhood Hollie's mom lives in and saw this pair of signs out front on the lawn of a neighbour's house. I felt a bit invasive creeping onto the lawn to get the photo I wanted but got away with it. Further down the road is a tattoo parlour with one those ubiquitous American store marquee signs outside advertising his presence with flashing bulbs and I'd taken a photo of that too - however I was spotted! The owner was a burly biker type chap, and naturally wanted to know what I wanted but once I'd explained my tourist credentials I was fine. Still, made me a little nervous before attempting to get this shot. As open as the land is out there, it's still all private property!
The image was originally quite washed out by the incredibly bright sun so I've used a combination of layers to bring the detail and richness of colour back, especially in the grass. There's a Highlight/Shadow layer, some curves (including one to give it the slightly faded film colours) and the ubiquitous vignette.
